President Hits Out At Enrique: "Organisers Of Such Indecent Shows Should Be Whipped!"

December 27, 2015

President Maithripala Sirisena hit out at Enrique's 'Love and Sex' concert saying he would not allow such concerns to be organised in the country again.

The President, addressing a public event in Ampara this morning, said such concerts were damaging to the culture of the country.

"These events are organised with the knowledge of the government. But, before giving approval for such events, the state authorities should know what the organisers intend to do!" he added. The President also referred to the incident where a girl threw her bra at the singer who was performing on the stage.

He said he would not allow any party to mislead the country's youth while slamming at the organisers of the show. The President added that the organisers of such indecent shows should be 'whipped'.

Enrique's show in Colombo was organised by a company named, Live events, owned by Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardena and radio personality Shaq. After the show, the company came under severe criticism from many parties over various "mishaps" during the event.

During the show, a girl, who was later identified as the daughter of a top brass military officer, barged into the stage and hugged the singer who was still performing.
