Jayantha Jayasuriya Takes Oaths As Attorney General

President's Councel Jayantha Jayasuriya took oaths as the new Attorney General of Sri Lanka before President Maithripala Sirisena a short while ago.

His name was recommended by the Constitutional Council yesterday.

The AG post was vacated following the recent retirement of Attorney General Yuwanjana Wanasundara.

Jayasuriya joined the Attorney-General's Department in November 1983 and was promoted a Senior State Counsel in 1996. He was appointed as Deputy Solicitor-General in 2004 and promoted as an Additional Solicitor-General in 2011. He was made President's Councel in March 2012.
