'Sil-redi' Case Fixed For Trial In April

The Colombo High Court today fixed the trial against former Presidential Secretary Lalith Weeratunga and former Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission Anusha Palpita for April 29.

The charges were read out at the hearing today and both Pelpita and Weeratunge pleaded not guilty. The case involves the alleged misappropriation of Rs 600 million belonging to the TRC for a 'sil redi' distribution program.

The first three witnesses were ordered to appear in court on April 29. 

On October 7, both were released on a cash bail of Rs 100,000 and three sureties of Rs one million each.
