A 23 year old pregnant woman was wounded in a shooting near the Welikada Prison and was rushed to the Colombo National Hospital this afternoon. 

The incident occurred at around 3.50pm. A woman who had come to visit a prison inmate was injured in the shooting.

She was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the National Hospital. 

Welikada Police are conducting investigations into the incident.
