Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishad Bathiudeen said that the government was taking steps to recommission the major industrial plants located in the north.

Speaking at the opening of a Lak Sathosa warehouse yesterday, Bathiudeen said that repair work has already been commenced in Kankesanthurai Cement Factory and Paranthan Chemical Factory.

These two were the major industries located in the Northern Province and stopped their work due to the outbreak of the war.
