Sirisena Made To Wait At Tirupati By Driver

Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena had a bitter experience atop Tirumala on Sunday as he had to wait for quite some time in his car as the drivers of his convoy had gone for a darshan.

On Sunday morning, accompanied by his wife Jayanthi Pushpa Kumari and Son Daham Sirisena, Sirisena visited the temple and, after offering prayers to Lord Venkateswara, he came out, straightaway went to his car and sat inside.

The TTD officials, who noticed the lapse, immediately alerted the temple staff and asked them to alert the drivers.

The drivers reached the convoy and the President left for the guesthouse where he was staying.

Tirupati Urban SP R. Jayalakshmi reportedly slammed the temple authorities for not communicating to them about the completion of the President’s darshan and that he was heading towards the car.

An inquiry has been ordered over the management of the convoy, which came from Karnataka, it is learnt. The Sri Lankan President reached Tirumala on Saturday night and had offered prayers during Suprabhata Seva in the early hours of Sunday.
