President Maithripala Sirisena states that the Sri Lanka Freedom Party will give priority to the new generation at the forthcoming election. He added that the SLFP will be developed as people friendly and trustworthy political organization. The country needs better political culture. The President said that politicians themselves have tarnished their own image. He was speaking at the opening of the SLFP party office of Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte yesterday. Meanwhile, the new community base power generation project titled as Sooriya Bala Sangramaya or battle for solar energy commenced yesterday under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena. Marking the event the official residence of President Maithripala Sirisena was provided solar power today by the Power and Renewable Energy Ministry. The government has plans to provide a solar power plant to each house of the country. The ministry also plans to introduce net metering to 1 million houses that generate solar power and buy excess electricity generated by the houses. The national ceremony of the solar power initiative was held at the BMICH yesterday. Addressing the gathering President Maithripala Sirisena said that electricity is one of priority areas of the national development. He added that the energy sector will play a big role in changing the lives of the people. He also noted that winning the power generation battle will help to obtain economic freedom of the people.
