JVP Unhappy With Government VAT Proposals

September 16, 2016

JVP Propaganda Secretary Vijitha Hereth today said that the government has not done any significant changes to the Value Added Tax.

Speaking at a press conference, Herath said that the slight changes have been done as a result of the opposition to the VAT policy of the government introduced earlier.

For example, some concession has been granted in the VAT policy of the health sector due to intense opposition, he pointed out.

Herath also said that the government was not elected to continue the policies of the previous government of Mahinda Rajapaksa. Pointing out that Rajapaksa was responsible for obtaining excessive loans, the present government was not brought in to continue the same system.
