KOICA Agrees To Donate Rs. 833.75 Million For Implementation Of Marine Science And Technical Regulations Project

KOICA, under South Korean funds, has consented in grating USD 5,750,000 (Rs. 833.75 million approximately) for the implementation of marine science and technical regulations project in removing marine debris and sediment in Sri Lankan sea line and for other related researches in fisheries.

Rs. 435 million out of the amount will be spent out for removing marine sediment and debris in fishery harbours. Priority will be given for the capacity enhancement of the fishery harbors and human resources development.

A discussion in this regard was held on 29.09.2016 under the patronage of Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Mahinda Amaraweera with the participation of the Secretary to the Ministry, representatives of KOICA and the officials representing NARA and CFHC.

Minister in this event appreciated the support extended by KOICA representing the Korean government for the economic development of Sri Lanka. It is highly appreciated that the international community like no other time in past has revealed an increasing tendency in supporting our country that has planned to reach high economic goals in a post war milieu, also said the Minister.
