Jaffna University Students To Meet President Today

Jaffna University students are to meet President Maithripala Sirisena today regarding the incident in which two Jaffna University students were allegedly shot at by the police for not complying an order to stop thier motorbike at a roadblock at the Kulappidi Junction in Kankesanthurai on October 21.

The students of the university launched a week-long protest campaign last week against the incident and demanded justice.This was followed by several other universities island wide.

The protest campaign was suspended by the students yesterday after meeting Prison Reforms, Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Hindu Religious Affairs Minister D.M. Swaminathan.
