Former Minister Basil Rajapaksa said that one million members are expected for the new party formed by the 'Joint Opposition'.

The enrollment of new members will begin at an auspicious time, he added, speaking to the media at an event in Ambalangoda yesterday.

The officials of the party will be elected at a national convention, he further said.

The new party was registered recently under the leadership of Prof. G.L. Peiris.
