Digital Technology For Social And Economic Progress In Sri Lanka

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe addressed a special session of the 15th Asia pacific Summit for German Enterprises. The two day summit began at the international conference and exhibition hall in Hong Kong this morning. The Prime Minister said Sri Lanka is taking measures to digitalize the administration to successfully face the future social and economic challenges. University students are provided with concessionary loans to purchase lap tops. A/level students will be provided with tabs free of charge.  

Free WiFi zones will also be set up  for the benefit of younger generation. 13 years of school education has been made compulsory for every student. Special attention has been focused to provide vocational training to school leavers. 

The prime minister further said that a number of democratic reforms are being conducted to create an educated an intellectual society.
