Sri Lanka Stocks Lower At Close Of Trade; CSE All-Share Down 0.08%

Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Construction & Engineering, Diversified Holdings and Hotels & Travel sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share lost 0.08% according to Investing.com.

The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Swarnamahal Financial Services PLC (CM:SWAR), which rose 14.29% or 0.200 points to trade at 1.600 at the close. Meanwhile, Cargo Boat Development Company PLC (CM:CABO) added 12.89% or 10.70 points to end at 93.70 and Industrial Asphalts (Ceylon) PLC (CM:ASPH) was up 11.64% or 39.00 points to 374.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Lanka Aluminium Industries PLC (CM:LALU), which fell 7.61% or 7.00 points to trade at 85.00 at the close. Udapussellawa Plantations PLC (CM:UDPL) declined 6.67% or 1.30 points to end at 18.20 and Ceylon Beverage Holdings PLC (CM:BREW) was down 6.25% or 37.50 points to 562.50.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 75 to 70 and 54 ended unchanged.

Crude oil for December delivery was down 1.61% or 0.72 to $43.94 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 1.27% or 0.58 to hit $45.26 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.83% or 10.45 to trade at $1255.95 a troy ounce.

GBP/LKR was up 1.06% to 185.370, while USD/LKR rose 0.09% to 147.805.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.02% at 98.77.
