The bus owners' associations are taking up arms against the government for increasing the minimum traffic fine to Rs 2500.

The proposal was made during the budget speech delivered yesterday by Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake.

Private bus owners' associations demand the revoke of the proposal, adding that they will take trade union action if the new measure is not withdrawn by next Wednesday.
