Opposition Would Have Used Clinton's Tactics If Rajapaksa Had Won In 2015: Gammanpila

November 15, 2016

Pivithuru Hela Urumaya General Secretary Udaya Gammanpila claimed yesterday that the then opposition would have resorted to the tactics currently used by the Hillary Clinton camp, if Mahinda Rajapaksa had won the 2015 January Presidential Election.

Speaking to the media in Colombo, Gammanpila said that the opposition had planned to surround the Temple Trees if the election had not gone their way.

However, Rajapaksa's move to hand over power smoothly prevented any such plans, Gammanpila said.

He added that the opposition had claimed victory citing 'computer jilmart' in 2010. They would have claimed victory in 2015, even if they had lost, he said.
