The laying of the foundation stone for the Volkswagen factory in Kuliyapitiya will take place on January 3 next year, Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said today.

Kariyawasam made this revelation at a function in Galgammulla, Giriulla.

He had earlier said that the work on the factory will begin in December.

Kariyawasam is the Chief Organizer of the UNP in Kuliyapitiya electorate.
