Dr. Rajitha Senaratna, Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine says salaries for Professionals should be decided according to the market value. The present system of deciding the salaries on a ratio for the professionals like Doctors and Engineers is not fair. 

Minister further said all stents required for heart patients will be provided free of charge, at present. Government spends 340 million rupees annually for this free service. A committee has also been appointed to decide the charges of all medical tests conducted by private medical institutions. Some employees in the Health Ministry are exploiting the rights of the innocent patients for their personal gains.

Joining the programme Director of the Anti-HIV/AIDS Movement Dr. Sisira Liyanage said there are 16 specialist doctors at HIV clinics island-wide. Another group of specialist doctors will be trained and deployed the HIV clinics.
