Veteran musician Sunil Dayananda Konara passed away at the age of 64.

He was suffering from ill health for a few days and passed away early this morning at the Dambadeniya Hospital.

He was a veteran lyricist and was known for some famous songs such as "Gamata Kalin Hiru" sung by Karunaratne Divulgane, Maha Wessak Bimata Hela" by Sunil Edirisinghe and "Wahinnata Haki Nam" by Nanda Malini.

Konara was a music teacher by profession and worked for a long time at the Wickramasheela National School in Giriulla. He was once awarded as the most creative music teacher in the country.
