Sri Lanka's cabinet on Wednesday agreed to set up high-level committee in each of its ministries to eliminate gender based violence in all workplaces.
Media Spokesperson Gayantha Karunathilake said that Sri Lanka was bound to take action to eliminate violence against women in workplaces according to the international conventions it has entered.
Accordingly, the proposal made by Chandrani Bandara, minister of women and child affairs, to appoint committee of senior officials in each ministry to eliminate gender based violence in all workplaces, was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers, Karunathilake said.
