Azath Sally And Hizbullah Resign From Their Positions: Government Still Undecided On Rishad Bathiudeen

President Maithripala Sirisena has accepted the resignation letters of Western Province Governr Azath Salley and Eastern Province Governor M.L.A.M. Hizbullah a short while ago, the President's Media Division said.

The development comes in the wake of the four-day hunger strike launched by Athuraliye Rathana Thera demanding the removal of the two governors and Minister Rishad Bathiudeen.

The government, however, still remains undecided on its course of action over Minister Rishad Bathiudeen.

Some sources speculate all Muslim ministers of the government will resign from their positions this afternoon in support of Bathiudeen.
