Former UNP MP Palitha Thewaraperuma has been hospitalized following a sudden illness.

Informed sources said Thewarapperuma would undergo an urgent heart surgery.

Thewarapperuma is a candidate for the upcoming Parliamentary election from the United National Party.

Sources close to him said the condition of the former UNP MP was "stable".
