42 Million Eggs Approved for Import by Sri Lankan Cabinet Amidst Market Satbility Concerns

 

The Cabinet has approved the import of an additional 42 million eggs until the end of April.
Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Bandula Gunawardana confirmed that the decision aims to stabilize the market and meet the demand, particularly during the upcoming new year festive season.
Already, 18 million eggs have been ordered, with prices sourced from Indian institutions recommended by the Animal Production and Health Department. The procurement process will proceed as recommended by the Standing Procurement Committee appointed by the Cabinet, following approval by President.
