At least 15 people, including seven school students, were injured in a bus accident near the Kumaradasa Junction on the Wellawaya – Thanamalwila main road.
The private passenger transport bus veered off the road and overturned, leading to injuries to passengers and the driver. All injured individuals, including the schoolchildren, were rushed to Wellawaya Base Hospital for medical treatment. Initial investigations suggest that the accident may have been caused by a sudden ailment suffered by the bus driver. Wellawaya Police are currently conducting further inquiries into the incident.
