Cracks on Jetavanarama Stupa Won't Jeopardize Dome Integrity

An expert committee reassures the public that cracks on the historic Jetavanarama Stupa in Anuradhapura won't compromise its integrity.
Despite initial concerns raised in 2016, recent inspections show that measures have successfully contained crack expansion to a mere 3mm this year. The committee, comprising university professors and experts from institutions like the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau and the National Building Research Organization, presented recommendations for crack mitigation.

Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Vidura Wickramanayaka, personally inspected the site, where experts confirmed that the stupa's dome remains unaffected by the cracks. Built by King Mahasena, the Jetavanarama Stupa stands as the world's largest brick monument, embodying rich historical and cultural significance.
