President Wickremesinghe Commends Economic Growth Leading to Strengthening of Sri Lankan Rupee

President Ranil Wickremesinghe lauded the positive economic strides achieved by the Sri Lankan government during a recent statement, attributing the strengthening of the national currency, the rupee, against the dollar to effective fiscal management.

Wickremesinghe expressed optimism about further reducing the value of the rupee, aiming for 280 against the dollar in the near future. He highlighted the government's commitment to enhancing public services and facilitating economic growth despite challenges. The president's remarks came during the Ceremony for Awarding Letters of Appointment to Graduate Teachers in the Western Province, where he announced significant progress in education, including the recruitment of approximately 4,000 teachers in 2024.
The president underscored the crucial role of teachers in shaping the future generation and urged educators to uphold the honor associated with their profession while continually updating their subject knowledge. Plans are underway to address the existing teacher vacancies and ensure adequate staffing to meet the educational needs of the country.
