Southern Province Governor and Rajapaksa Loyalist Willy Gamage Resigns from Post, Successor Yet to Be Named

Southern Province Governor Willy Gamage, a prominent figure known for his loyalty to the Rajapaksa family, has tendered his resignation letter to the President's Secretary. Effective from May 2, 2024, Gamage's departure has left the top position of the Southern Provincial Council vacant. 

Gamage, a former senior state official, has served with distinction in various capacities throughout his career.

Despite Gamage's resignation, no official announcement has been made regarding his successor.
