Deadline Extended for over 40s to Obtain National Identity Cards

The deadline for issuing National Identity Cards (NIC) for individuals over the age of 40 who still do not possess one has been extended to the 30th of June.
Commissioner General of the Department for Registration of Persons, Pradeep Saputhanthri, stated that this extension aims to assist individuals who lack a birth certificate, preventing them from obtaining an NIC. Initially effective until the 31st of March, the decision to extend the deadline was prompted by requests from Divisional Secretaries.
