Despite the Sri Lankan moratorium on foreign research ships entering the Sea of Sri Lanka, a US research vessel entered the area.
The Ministry of Defense confirmed that while the ship was denied permission for research activities, it was allowed entry for replenishment purposes.
The vessel arrived on April 19 and departed on April 22, according to the Ministry.
