6,000 Cops Deployed for Colombo May Day Events

In anticipation of May Day events, authorities in Colombo have ramped up security measures with the deployment of 6,000 police officers to ensure public safety during rallies and parades.
Additionally, an extra 4,000 officers will be stationed in other regions.
DIG Nihal Talduwa highlighted the importance of prompt mobilization and hinted at potential military support if needed.
Furthermore, unauthorized drone usage for documenting festivities is strictly prohibited.
Despite inclement weather forcing some cancellations, various political parties are gearing up for rallies across the city, with notable events planned by the United National Party, Samagi Jana Balawega, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, and the Sri Lanka Freedom Party. The National People's Power is also organizing rallies in Colombo, Jaffna, Matara, and Anuradhapura, advocating for civic engagement and political discourse.
