Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) leader Maithripala Sirisena confirmed Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe as the party's Presidential candidate.
Speaking at the commemoration ceremony of Trade Union Leader T.B. Ilangaratne on May Day, Sirisena emphasized Rajapakshe's dedication to the party, stating that he has no aspirations for a ministerial post.
Sirisena reiterated his decision not to contest another Presidential election, emphasizing a commitment made during his inauguration in 2015.
Rajapakshe, set to receive full party support, emerges as a formidable contender for the upcoming presidential race.
