Supreme Court Sets Date to Hear Diana Gamage's Petition Against SJB Decision

The Supreme Court has scheduled May 28th as the date to hear the petition filed by former State Minister Diana Gamage challenging the Samagi Jana Balawegaya's (SJB) decision to revoke her party membership.
Today, a three-member bench, including Justices Gamini Amarasekara, Kumuduni Wickremesinghe, and Mahinda Samayawardhena, addressed the petition.

President’s Counsel Faiszer Musthapha, representing Diana Gamage, requested time to update the court on the petition's status.
The bench agreed to reconvene on May 28th for further deliberation and decision. Notable figures like Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa and SJB General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara are among the respondents named in the petition.
The SJB expelled Diana Gamage for voting in favor of the 20th Amendment to the Constitution, contrary to the party's unanimous decision.

The party cited this action as a breach of discipline, leading to Gamage's suspension for the party's well-being and reputation.
