Sports Minister Lodges Police Complaint Against The Anonymous Caller

December 04, 2014

Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage has lodged a complaint against the caller who allegedly insulted him during the ‘Waada Pitiya’ political talk show on Derana TV, yesterday.

Speaking to Asian Mirror Police Media Spokesperson Ajith Rohana said that the complaint was lodged by Minister Aluthgamage with the Mirihana Police station at around 12 midnight yesterday (3).

During the ‘Waada Pitiya’ political talk show on Derana TV, an unknown caller alleged that Minister Aluthgamage has one of the largest ‘files’ and even Minister Aluthgamage’s wife knows about his alleged rackets. The caller also added that Aluthgamage was one of the most corrupt Ministers in President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s government.

At this moment Minister Aluthgamage lashed out at the caller and the programme host Chathura Alwis saying that this was the first time Derana TV allowed a caller to insult a Minister on national television.

The Minister walked out of the Derana TV studio a short while after the incident.

Aluthgamage, before walking out of the TV studio, accused Derana of supporting The campaign of the common candidate. He said he was insulted during the programme in a manner that would tarnish his public image and reputation.
