Weerawansa's Party Wants Corruption Probed From 1977

National Organizer of the National Freedom Party Jayantha Samaraweera urged the government to introduce new legislation to take actions against those who have found guilty of fraud and corruption since 1977.

Speaking to a local newspaper Samaraweera said that although the Government claimied it would punish all fraudsters and plunderers of public money, some well-known fraudsters were still out in th ioen.

“Government should set up a special prison for white-collar criminals convicted for abusing public resources” he declared. 

He further said that new laws must be introduced if the prevailing laws were not sufficient to punish those who had robbed public resources
