Former Minister Wimal Weerawansa’s wife Shashi Weerawansa was released on bail, with two sureties of Rs 500,000 each by the Colombo Magistrate’s court, today. (27)

Despite two sureties, she was ordered to furnish a bail bond of Rs 15000.

Moreover Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya ordered Shashi Weerawansa to report at the CID every Friday.

Shashi Weeransa was arrested at a private hospital in Malabe last Sunday (22) over the charges of obtaining diplomatic and general passports illegally. She had submitted birth certificate with forged names and dates of birth to obtain those passports.
