SL Navy Allegedly Attack Five Indian Fishermen

Sri Lankan Navy personnel allegedly attacked five fishermen from Rameswaram when they were fishing near Katchatheevu on Saturday, official sources told 'The Hindu.'

The Navy personnel, who came in five boats, fired four rounds in the air and threatened a group of fishermen from Rameswaram not to fish in the area. They also attacked five fishermen of a boat with steel rods, Tamil Nadu Police ‘Q’ branch Inspector Kennedy and Rameswaram Fishermen Association President T. Sasuraja told reporters.

The Navymen also destroyed some of the fishing nets, they said.
