Sri Lanka Defeats Pakistan, Rain: Levels Test Series With Comprehensive Victory

Sri Lanka levelled the Test series with Pakistan, beating the visitors comprehensively by seven wickets at P. Sara Stadium a short while ago.

Sri Lanka started the chase this morning, needing 153 to win. Sri Lankan batsmen, except Kumar Sangakkara, did not look uncomfortable against the Pakistani bowling. Sangakkara fell first bowl to Yasir Shah in the eighth over, giving a rare glimmer of hope to the Pakistanis.

Kithruwan Vithanage opened batting with Dimuth Karunaratne as Sri Lanka aimed to finish off the chase before the onset of rain. Vithanage slammed Pakistanis for a quick-fire 34 in just 23 balls faced. He was dismissed with the score on 49, and after Sangakkara's dismissal, Sri Lanka were 49 for 2.

Captain Angelo Mathews joined opener Karunatne and the pair put on 72 runs at a brisk pace. Karunaratne scored his sixth Test half century before Yasir Shah-Sri Lanka's nemesis at the First Test-dismissed him. Lahiru Thirimanne joined the party and ended the chase in the 27th over.
