Justice Sarath de Abrew Sits On Supreme Court Bench Despite Requests Not To List Him

Supreme Court Justice Sarath de Abrew sat on the bench today, despite a request made by the Bar Association of Sri Lanka from the Chief Justice, not to list him in court cases.

Justice Abrew sat on the bench in Court Room 404 with Justice Buwaneka Aluvihare and Justice Upali Abeyratne.

The three member bench has been listed in the Supreme Court Daily Court Diary.

A housemaid employed at his house complained to Police recently that he assaulted her with a pistol. The BASL made a request from the Chief Justice not to list Abrew for court cases and to make a request from Abrew to relinquish his position for the sake of reputation of the judiciary.

Meanwhile, a protest by Domestic Workers' Union is being held near the Supreme Court, urging action against Justice Abrew.
