MR Agrees To Reject Nominations For Mervyn - Duminda - Sajin - Sarana

The group supporting former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has agreed to reject nominations for former MPs Sajin Vass Gunawardena, Duminda Silva, Mervyn Silva and Sarana Gunawardena, highly placed UPFA sources told Asian Mirror, a short while ago.

Therefore, the four ex-Parliamentarians would not receive nominations to contest from the UPFA alliance.

However, it is learnt that other ex-MPs, who were on the fence, including Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Rohitha Abeygunawardena and Lakshman Wasantha Perera, are likely to receive nominations from the UPFA.

Former President Rajapaksa last night insisted that members of his core group, known as 'Abharamaya cabal', should be given nominations to contest under the UPFA.

UPFA candidates are presently signing nominations at Mahaweli Centre, Colombo 07, with its General Secretary Susil Premajayantha
