Man Rescued After Jumping from Sri Pada Found Alive

A 32-year-old man who leaped from the upper part of Sri Pada (Adam’s Peak) has been discovered alive nearly eight days after his disappearance. He had ventured to Sri Pada with a group from his hometown and jumped off the protective fence at the Ratnapura-Sri Pada route on April 17. Despite a suspension of the search operation after three days, he was found alive in the Rajamale area of Mare Estate near the Adam’s Peak Wilderness Sanctuary in the Nallathanniya Police Division.
The man, a resident of Sooriyawewa in Hambantota, was located by estate workers who promptly alerted the Nallathanniya Police Station. He has since been hospitalized, with investigations underway by the Nallathanniya and Sri Pada Police to determine the reason behind his actions.
