Chairman of Rathgama Pradeshiya Sabha Manoj Pushpakumara Mendis was shot dead at a hotel in Hikkaduwa Monday (23) night, police said.
Mendis was taken to the hospital immediately after the shooting which took place during a social function at the hotel. However he succumbed to his injuries shortly after being admitted.

Two more persons were reportedly injured in the shooting.
