Paddy To Be Removed From Mattala

The Paddy Market Board said that steps will be taken to remove the paddy stocks stored at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Airport at Mattala.

PMB Chairman M.B. Dissanayake said that 5000 Metric Tons of paddy has been stored in an unused warehouse of MRIA.

He added that the building will be returned after the stocks are sold. Tenders have already been called to sell the stocks, he also said.

Transport Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva recently visited the MRIA and said that he will be demanding compensation from the PMB for the damage caused by the storing of paddy at the airport. However, PMB said that an unused building was used for the purpose.
