Johnston Fernando Granted Bail In Cases Filed By Bribery Commission

December 15, 2015

Former Minister Johnston Fernando was granted bail by Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya when he appeared at the court for the five cases filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption.

The commission recently filed charges against Fernando on not declaring assets and liabilities in the years between 2010-2014. Five separate cases were filed for the five years.

He was released on a cash bail of Rs 10,000 and a surety of Rs one million for each case.

Charges were not read out today as there was an error in the charge sheets filed. Therefore, amended charge sheets will be filed on the next day of the case.

The case was fixed for hearing on April 27.
