Two men were hauled to the magistrate's court over their alleged involvement in the assault of the Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Malaysia, Ibrahim Sahib Ansar, at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) last Sunday, the New Straits Times reported.

Self-employed A. Kalaimughilan, 25 and taxi driver V. Balamurugan, 34, pleaded not guilty to the offence before magistrate Muhamad Faizal Ismail. The duo was accused of assaulting the victim and rioting with four others (who are still at large) on the 3rd floor of KLIA Sept 4.

Their charge under Section 147 of the Malaysian Penal Code carries a maximum jail sentence of two years or a fine, or both, upon conviction.

The court allowed RM 7,000 bail with one surety for the accused and fixed Oct 7 for mention.
