Colour Codes To Be Made Mandatory To Indicate Salt, Fat Levels In Food

Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne today emphasized that colour codes will be made mandatory to indicate the levels of salt and fat in food items.

This comes after the government moved to introduce a colour coding for sugar content.

Senaratne said that this was a step towards reducing the non-communicable diseases.

The government is also considering the introduction of taxes according to sugar, salt and fat content of foods.
