Jaffna University Students Return Governor's Letter Which Was Only In Sinhalese (Photos)

Jaffna University Arts Students' Union returned a letter sent by Northern Province Governor Reginald Cooray opposing the fact that the letter was written only in Sinhalese.

The letter, addressed to the President, brings to his attention a petition presented by the students over the recent deaths of two students.

Copies were sent to the students unions including the ASU, Law Faculty Students Union and Science Faculty Students Union.

ASU President K. Rajeevan returned their copy with a note written in English saying "We could not understand what you are saying here. We are trying to say that Sri Lankan official languages are Sinhalese and Tamil"
