Director General of Government Information Dr. Ranga Kalansooriya said that the Department of Government Information was issuing press releases very soon after some critical incident with the sole purpose of minimizing the harm caused by wrong information or gossip.

Answering the journalists at the weekly Cabinet Press Briefing regarding the issuance of press releases by the Department of Government Information at doubtful situations, Dr. Kalansooriya requested them to report such sensitive incidents very carefully.
