Cinnamon Grand Responds To Dinner Incident On Friday

Cinnamon Grand Hotel responded to reports of the incident at a function last night where 12 guests were suddenly taken ill and hospitalized.

In a statement, the management of the hotel pointed out that 12 guests suddenly fell ill during the function and the hotel facilitated the transfer of the affected guests to hospital. All affected guests were discharged from hospitals by Saturday, the management also said.

Government authorities and the hotel are conducting separate investigations into the incident, and the results of these investigations will be shared with all concerned, the statement further said.

On Friday evening, twelve out of 175 guests attending a private function at the Oak Room of the Cinnamon Grand Hotel in Colombo fell ill during the event.

The hotel facilitated the transfer of the affected guests to hospital and all twelve guests had been discharged on Saturday.

Samples of all food and beverages served at the function have been handed to the various government authorities to carry out an independent investigation while the hotel will also carry out an internal investigation. The results of these investigations will be shared with all concerned.

Cinnamon Grand regrets this incident and will ensure its fullest cooperation towards ascertaining what caused it.
