Janaka Bandara Tennakoon To Resign Today

Minister of Provincial Councils and Regional Development Janaka Bandara Tennakoon is to resign from his ministerial portfolio, political sources said.

Tennakoon came to limelight on the day President Mithripala Sirisena made a special announcement on the issue of granting nominations to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Tennakoon called for a press briefing on the same day and called for an immediate meeting of the Central Committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.

Minister Mahinda Amaraweera recently said that several SLFP ministers were seeking the approval of Central Committee of the SLFP to resign from their posts. Tennakoon was said to be among them.
