Eight Army Soldiers Arrested In Jaffna

Eight soldiers of the 6th Signal Corps of Sri Lanka Army were arrested on October 17 by Chavakachcheri Police for removing metal advertising boards by the side of A-09 road for scrap iron.

They were arrested during a search operation launched by the police based on several complaints received regarding the removal of billboards located in Jaffna, our reporter said.

The eight soldiers were presented before the Chawakachcheri District Court and later released on sureties of Rs. 50,000 each.

Further hearing of the alleged incident was postponed to October 29, the police said.
