President Maithripala Sirisena told the Cabinet that he received the letter of resignation from the Law and Order and Prison Reforms Minister Tilak Marapana.

This announcement came while Marapana was holding a special press conference at his residence.

His press conferences coincides with the special Cabinet meeting called to discuss the Avant-Garde controversy.
